“You need to be very brave to live in fear”. Ángel González. Four powerful women whose essences and thoughts are bigger than their own stories surprise us with their innovative views on sexist violence and the emotion that translates from their strength. No victimization. No paternalism. Professionals in the field and young people will walk along with them building a solid base for reflection and understanding. Patriarchy is installed as a harmful organism in every social structure. Its prevalence lies in being invisible by means of being accepted as normal. With an impregnable power, it dwells in our thoughts, but mostly in our beliefs. This documentary comes from a different perspective, conscious and deep, from questions outside our determining patterns for us to unlearn, shedding light over the dead angles of matters still in the shade. It’s very difficult to protect oneself from what’s unseen. We’ve been made blind, but the human essence is not an abstract thing. Learning how we connect, and which roles condition us will help us understand the source of the problem. We will dig deeper in the “about one another” and in the need of seeing ourselves in the rest. This documentary finds open answers to closed questions: Can an unfair context and structure bring fair results? Which behaviour models and society tricks depend on the patriarchal system? Are men also victims? Is suing doing enough to fight sexist violence? Is the porn industry impacting teenager’s sexual education? Is this industry presenting women as insignificant or non-existent? We know that shared power is the most transformative force but if we don’t see patriarchy as a collective problem, there will only be adaptative changes that will still perpetuate a patriarchal system. Women’s Rights are Human Rights, and the inequality women still suffer is mirrored in the rest of human inequalities.
