OPEN AIR features individuals in rehabilitation. Having left prison, they now find themselves in a different kind of freedom than the one they knew before their detention. Transformed by their experience of captivity, they have a new look at this newfound world. In the obligation to obtain a different source of income than before their incarceration, they come up against the harshness of a system that is not adapted to their situation and to the limited employment opportunities it has to offer. One by one, I invited them to come to a video set to tell me about themselves on a green background. This device allows me to present their testimonies by transposing them into another reality, by means of imaginary spaces. These synthetic settings are taken from video games and result from a simple question: where would you like to be now? With OPEN AIR, I wish to shift the viewer's gaze on the inmates in rehabilitation.

Smiling Girl

I am interested in the individual, his identity, the place that society gives him. I meet people and make connections. I immerse myself in worlds that are not immediately mine. From these relationships are born observations and questions that make my work. I try to give an account of the time spent and the moments shared together by means of sound recording, photography and video which allow me to present a word and a story very directly. The resulting work is not just documentation but the transposition of a common experience, presented in the form of an installation.
